My Enjoyment Of The Music Group MGMT Sparks My Quest For The Origins Of The Term 'Hipster'?! (man that is long title :-)
Listen for yourself I will not 'categorize' the sound (a bad habit of mine I am trying to break or reduce the tendency) ~

go here to hear their sound http://www.myspace.com/mgmt (go here to get a free remix of a previous MGMT album by Leeclaybang aka Brother Dvooa (click here) (scroll down to his downloads ~ www.afrispora.com/brotherdvooa.com)
I like the group a lot but the article started OFF with the 'loaded' term hipster, which I state as such for some simple reasons. 1. Why are folks always grouped...I am all for collectivity in the real world but not simply terminolgy...
Someone please enlighten me, enjoy the music and take care.

AFRISPORA's activities as an example of contemporary 'salon culture' with a cultural spin...!!!
In an effort to support the arts, promote greater interconnectedness among the local Afrik/can communities, Afrispora Worldwide is committed to quality 'edutainment' via Afrispora.com and its related cyberspaces and cybernetworks.
In the coming days, weeks, months, years and decades, Salon Culture Today will highlight interesting local, informal, regional, national and international instances of 'salon culture' and its widerange of spinoffs and related social constructs such as pop culture, intellectual culture, social norms, sub-cultures, etc.
Here is some footage from the May 24th show featuring M.E.R.C.U.R.Y. a mainstay in all the AFRISPORA is about and what we do!
